Data Sources & Methodology
Every record in the directory names the source it came from. This page explains how sources are selected, how records are verified, and where coverage is incomplete.
Nothing Is Fabricated
If a field cannot be sourced from an authoritative record, it is left blank.
PoliceStations.pk publishes only information that can be traced to an official source. Station identities come from police directories, government phone books, or official helpline listings. Addresses and coordinates come from independent mapping data, cross-referenced against the official name.
Where a field would require invention — a street address, a phone number, an SHO name, an email — it is omitted rather than estimated. A page with fewer facts is not a failure of the directory; it is an honest representation of what official sources make available.
How Sources Are Ranked
Not all sources carry equal weight. Official government sources are always preferred.
Official Police Directories
Provincial and territorial police websites that publish searchable station directories with names, circles, districts and sometimes phone numbers. These are the highest-authority sources and are preferred over all others.
Government Helpline & Phone Directories
Official government-published phone books, district or tehsil helpline listings, and government gazette notifications that name stations and their contact numbers. These are used where no formal police directory is available.
Independent Mapping Data
Geographic coordinates and road addresses cross-referenced against the station name from tier-1 or tier-2 sources. Used for location data only, not for station identity.
Conflicting Sources
Where two official sources disagree — most commonly on phone numbers — both are noted, neither is selected as canonical, and the record is flagged for confirmation.
How Records Are Classified
Every station record is assigned one of three publication states.
Published
The record has official source confirmation. The station has a live, search-engine indexable page with a self-canonical URL. 1,548 stations are published.
Withheld
The station is known to exist but available official source data is insufficient to publish a page. No URL exists. Not linked internally or included in the sitemap. 258 stations are withheld.
Documented Source Gaps
Areas where the directory is incomplete due to limited official source availability.
Sindh
258 stations are withheld because Sindh Police zone directories were not fully accessible at the time of data collection. These records exist in the national database but are not published.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
172 stations have limited official phone directory coverage — contact details vary by district. Stations are confirmed to exist from official sources and have published pages. Phone data is shown where available.
Balochistan
Post-merger integration of former Levies Force facilities into the Balochistan Police has not been fully reflected in official public directories, creating source gaps at the station level.
Azad Jammu & Kashmir
Three districts — Neelum, Haveli and Jhelum Valley — have no publicly accessible official station listings. These districts have no published pages.
Gilgit-Baltistan
13 stations have no published phone number in the official GB Police directory, including all six Ghanche district stations and all three Kharmang stations.
Coverage gaps represent unavailable official source data, not editorial decisions. Stations are never fabricated to fill gaps. If an official source becomes available for a withheld record, it will be reviewed and published.
